Home, Sweet, Home
Thursday, August 30, 2007
Ah, back to the comfort of home after a long two week rally through the North East.
The last stop on the East Infection tour was Junction Skate Park, in W. Springfield MA.
Right past the hotel we just left an hour further East than the park. So stoked that I'm not driving that van again today!
We showed up to the park about an hour earlier than expected, so what do we do? Skate of course, the park was already packed solid with 200 kids. The heat was rising, these parks need to look into a big Aass Fan like the one at SPoT.
The park was so short back and forth that it kinda worked like a mini ramp with obstacles in the middle. Not bad. I think this was the best all around demo of the trip, everyone was ripping. Kerry lit the place up with quick as lightning double and triple flips, Daewon fired out the master mini skills and the street tech on the manual pads. Jeron blasted over the box to smit , krooks and so on. The Viking was on it as well with a huge backside flip over the whole box, frontside flip and then tre flip to board snap. Scotty (Thurman) and Joe Took skated a solid two hours, a solid skate park blitz for sure.
We drank a few adult sodas, the boys signed away and we packed it up. I washed off the East Infection that night, just as a few of the crew started to lite it up with a bottle of Jager. Not sure what followed, but I know there are some good stories.
Thanks to all the people that helped us out on this trip. It was nothing short of amazing. Meeting new people, re-meeting people I forgot I knew. Skating the parks, hanging with the kids, talking to the parents, the shops and seeing some sights I have seen before and some I have not. Traveling with these guys is by far one of the most memorable times of my life, thanks to Skateboarding and DVS.

The END is Near...
Tuesday, August 28, 2007
The end is near for the East Infection tour. Yesterday we hit up Eastern Boarder in the town of Danvers and hung with the kids in the shop for a few. Good times hangin' with Moms and the groms. After a second stop at "Dunkin Donuts" we were off to Rye Airfield skatepark.
This place is pretty amazing. The street course is huge which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. But the park pretty much has some thing for everyone.
Warm up on the mini ramp, session in the bowl and then out to rip the street course. Everyone got in the mix and the kids out here are super respectful and mellow. That makes it a whole lot less hectic.
Charlie Wilkins came out to skate with us as well, really stoked to see that guy on his home turf instead of being behind the judging table at your favorite extreme contest. He has ripping and adding to the list of legends that we have gotten to hang with or skate with at some point on this tour.
As the sun went down the mosquito's started to eat Daewon and Kristian alive, Dubs called for a rally and we were out and back at the hotel for one more night.
Today is the last day of the tour and I am itching to get back to the family at this point. It has been a long fun trip with a lot of new faces and a lot of old faces. It was amazing staying in NY for as long as we did even though I am totally broke at this point.
Come out and join us for the last demo of the East Infection in West Springfield MA. (Simpsons sighting???) Oh, wrong Springfield. Well join us at Theory Skateshop/Junction Skatepark for the last hoorah! See you there.

East Infected Fun
Monday, August 27, 2007

After the demo at MSC, Kristian came out for some fresh air, laid down in this spot and evaporated, all that is left is this wet spot.

Daewon chillin with some kids at the Fish Gap in NY. These kids were stoked, we just showed up at their spot and hung for a solid couple hours skating in the street with them. Good times for sure.

We will be at Eastern Boarder in Danvers today for a autograph signing at 1pm and then out to the Rye Airfield park by 4pm for the demo. See you all out there. Daewon decided last minute to stay for the whole trip so you kids are in luck!

Woo-sta Sweat Blog
Sunday, August 26, 2007
Shrewsbury, MA right next to Woo-sta, MA. We rolled in to Shrews, dropped the bags and rolled to the park. Mass Skate Co. is hidden off the side of the road and is kinda like a giant, skate cave, dark and hot. It was an oven. With all the bodies packed into the park and no circulation it was like breathing some one else's breath. Even with the heat conditions the demo went on, Kristian, Chico, Scotty (Thurman), Jimmy, Jeron, Guru, and Took warmed up the street course while Jereme hung with the family. And a few of them it was, his brother, Mom, Grandma, and others in tow, all coming out to support the local in these parts. Jereme pretty much put a good ending to the demo by turning out the tricks on the long rail and over the bank to bank.
Daewon, Kerry and Kristian went on to destory the mini ramp. After every run the guys looked like they might pass out. Did I mention it was hot? Mother Nature has been having a good time with this East Infection... Rained out demos, sauna like conditions in the parks. Thanks to all the kids that hung out in the sauna and watched the skating go down.
The heat in the park turned unbearable and we lurked in the parking lot for a few. A little later the heat exhaustion hit Daniel hard. Everyone was wiped. We skated this afternoon at Somersville High, not as good of a spot from what I have seen in past vid footage, but none the less we had a pretty good time. I will have some pics for you in the morning, and then off to Danvers.

Traffic Sucks Anywhere, Not Just L.A.
Saturday, August 25, 2007
Thursday we got to go out and skate with no pressure of being somewhere at a certain time and that felt good. We skated Flushings for a solid 2 or 3 hours w/Flushing locals like Rodney Torres and Luis. Luis was ripping up his local spot, which is always fun to watch. Then we headed out to Brooklyn to hit a couple spots, it was all in all a good day of skating.
The night went longer being our last night in Manhattan and having Kristian and Jeron in town now we could'nt resist. It was a long night and I got to see morning break, not my favorite but when times call for it I am down. Nothing like last call at 3:30 am..
We headed out to Academy Skatepark in Wood Bridge CT hours later.... After a solid 2 hours in snail pace traffic which we were about 15 miles away from our destination. We arrived to a park full of patiently waiting skaters. About 800 of them to be exact. After being stuck in the van the crew unwound and it was on.. The park had a good set up and the boys got to work fast. In the back of the park they have an 80' foot wide mini ramp that Kristian, Daewon and Kerry tore apart. The rest of the crew kept the kids stoked on the street course. Everyone was skating really well and the kids where stoked! Four hours later we're at another hotel and waiting for the next stop to start.

We're off to Mass Skate Co today in Shrewsbury MA. It should be another day of good skating. See you there!
If you see Reda ask him how Christopher Watkins is doing, you will be in for a treat. He has been practicing his Watkins impression and it is getting really good. Reda is by far the most entertaining guy to have on a trip, sometimes I think he'll never stop talking.

Wit or Wit-out Onions?
Thursday, August 23, 2007
So we piled in the vans and headed down to Philly to meet up with Kerry at his shop Nocturnal. NO traffic and the roads were dry, a good sign for all that needed to skate.
We got into Philly, hung at Nocturnal for a minute with the kids and then headed over to the bridge down the street and got our skate on.
They had a small set up consisting of a couple manual pads, and a couple wedge ramps over an old Honda CRX. Jimmy had a close call with his foot going thru the window, as Kerry would casually kick flip over the car. We skated for a couple hours and then headed over to Pat's for a mandatory cheesesteak sandwich. Everyone enjoyed these other than Guru and Berra, not really in their diet. They missed out.
Cole can you give us a pic of that Cheesesteak up on this blog??

We are off today and some of our crew has embarked on a new journey. Berra, and Keith have flown home. Zered and Lamare are on their way to Denver for the kick off of King Of The Road with Zoo York. The good news is, I woke up this morning and Daewon is still here, as he was supposed to leave today as well. Looks like you folks up North will be able to enjoy his skating!
Today The Viking (Kristian Bomholt) and JDubs will be joining us. Then we will be off to Wood Bridge CT for a demo at Academy Skate Park. See you all there, rain or shine!

To the Jersey Shore and Back
Wednesday, August 22, 2007
So we have the same report on the Long Branch Barewires demo signing, rain...The shop has a pretty good looking outdoor park next to it and some ripping would have gone down but the place was soaked. The shop was packed out with stoked kids though, that counts right?
No skating on these trips makes people a little edgy. That sucks.
So to scratch that itch some kids at the shop told us about a mini ramp at a kids house that is in the garage. With hopes high in having some thing good to skate we caravaned over to the house to one of the smallest and shittiest mini ramps I have seen. Keith and I were joking about how bad it was going to be and we were both pretty close. As we are skating it one of the kids mentions that there is a better indoor ramp in town... Thanks for being on it guys! If you want the boys to come skate the local spots can you bring us to the legit ones please???
Zered, Joe and Jimmy all got some, Berra even spun himself into a 540 on the banks of this ramp, right out the garage door and back on the road to NYC.

We are heading to Kerry's shop Nocturnal in Philadelphia today and it looks like we might hit a dry spot. Good for these guys, the troops are getting restless.

Exit West, No Wait, East, Oh Well Go Straight Then.
Monday, August 20, 2007

We got lost on our way home from Nieratko's and ended up in Times Square. No one seemed to mind, we all yelled profanities out of the rental van at the swarms of tourists and pedestrians. All and all a great way to top off a rainy day spent indoors.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!
It's been a couple days of bad luck on our end with the rain.
We hit up KCDC in Brooklyn yesterday and got a break from the rain with a session on the mini ramp they have in the shop. What a god send. The whole crew was in effect and of course Daewon pretty much shut the ramp down. In the mix with Dae was Chico, Zered, Berra, Guru, Jimmy, and Joe Took. The session went for a solid two hours with non stop mini ramp action. All the kids were stoked and you could tell by the crowds reaction to the guys skating.
Berra got back to the basics when Amy put him to work behind the counter gripping boards for the customers. It was a good evening in Brooklyn at KCDC, thanks to Amy and her crew for taking care of us! Thanks to all the kids that came out to support as well.

Grippin' for Rippin'

Today we headed out to Sayreville to Chris Nieratko's shop NJ Skate Shop. Awesome little shop in an interesting building that could be mistaken for a house. It was looking like we were going to be hanging with about ten kids in the rain but as time went on more and more kids started to show up to hang with us. No demo for the boys, just sitting around watching the rain fall. Chris and his wife Chris hooked us up with a BBQ at his house with a pool table, Skeeball, good food and a keg. That kept most our minds off of the wet weather.
Thanks to all the kids and parents that came out to hang with us in the rain.
Also thanks to Steve, Chris and Chris.
Tomorrow we will be out in Long Branch, NJ and hopefully Mother Nature will be on our side and spare us the wet weather. We're all ready to skate and over the rainy dampness.

Bummer at the End of Summer
Sunday, August 19, 2007
We had the day off yesterday so we packed up the vans and hit the streets. It was an amazing day here in the city, perfect temp, the breeze blew all the crap out of the sky and it was as clear as it gets. The first spot we went to was the Brooklyn Banks, got warmed up and then moved on. The session was a pretty damn good one and we even had a visit from the one and only Julien Stranger, what a treat!
Things were going well and Torey was about to roll out of a RNR on the smaller pillar at the end of the banks, pretty hefty for sure. He was on his way out of it had to jump ship and he slid right into the light pole, to broken arm. The hospital is right around the corner thankfully, so we were off on foot with Torey to the ER. A couple hours later and some fatal mishaps with the NYFD in the ER, Torey was bandaged up in a temp cast and out the door. Torey will be flying home today and meeting up with the Ortho Doc for the real assessment. He's in pretty good spirits considering the circumstances. Get better soon Torey! We're going to miss you on the rest of the tour.
Guru and Jereme flew in yesterday and will be with us thru the rest of the tour.
Come join us at KCDC tonight for some skating and chilling Brooklyn style. Hope to see you there!

Torey with a broken wing, and a few of the posse hanging in the front of the hotel, lurkers!

Special Sauce Update
Saturday, August 18, 2007
Yesterday we paid a visit to Special Sauce in Bay Shore. We got on the road a little later than expected and drove right into Friday afternoon traffic and rain, a combo that will stretch your drive from an hour out to three! Brutal traffic, but we made it, only an hour and a half late. thanks to all the kids that posted up and sat thru the rain to hang with the crew. At least 200 kids were there waiting for us.
Special Suace is an amazing shop and it was a pleasure to be there with the crew and all the kids. Thanks to Pete, Chris, Dave and the rest of the guys at the shop that took care of us.
A special guest showed up that I should have gotten a photo of but I blew it, Gino Iannucci.

Daewon burning some of the traffic stress off on the foosy table.

Some autograph sleeves, this is the next big thing in tats. Get yourself some! See that custom signature, Torey dog drawing... amazing.

New York Dummy!
Wow, there are alot of people in the city, i mean yeah its big whatever, but no one is in there expensive apartments, they're all running around on the streets or zipping around fixed gear bikes or something. But anywho, the East infection tour is off to a good start, I mean, everyone got here, and thats amazing being that every trip there is at least one douche that simple can't be a normal human and get on a plane the time there ticket tells them to. As you may be able to tell i'm psyched, this is my favorite city in the US, and we have probably 10 of the best skateboarders out with us, plus we have two of the big apple's best host's showing us its gems and secret spots (Reda and Zered), thanks dudes. We have a demo today so check back to see the photo's and videos, OK?

Day One!
It looks like the whole crew is in NY and we are going to be hitting the first demo today at Special Sauce in Bay Shore NY. come out and join us.
The crew that will be out at the shop consist of Daewon, Huf, Berra, Torey, Lamare, Jimmy Cao, Joe Tookmanian, Zered, Scotty Moore, Chico and Daniel. good times, good times.
Yesterday we wandered around the city, dodged the rain and got some skating in. The crew was Torey, Chico, Daniel, Reda, Zered, RB and Eli. We mainly skated around the Brooklyn banks area and hit some really fun spots. Z was ripping like usual and Torey was out on fresh legs so his pop was on high! NY is a rugged and fun place to get some street skating going, it is so nice to not be stuck in my box at the office.

Chico taking in the view of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges. A pretty impressive sight.

DL on a flat ground bender. Switch heel all day long.
